Seven-Out
When the number seven is rolled in craps after a point has been established.
Shoe
The housing from which cards are dealt in a multiple deck game.
Shooter
The player who is rolling the dice in a game of craps.
Small Blind
A bet that must be posted by the player one seat to the left of the button. It
is usually equal to one half of the smaller betting limit in a game.
Snake Eyes
A dice roll of two ones.
Snapper
Casino slang for a blackjack.
Soft Total
In blackjack a hand in which the ace counts as an 11. For example, an ace and a
four would be a “soft “14”.
Splitting Pairs
A player’s option in blackjack to take cards of equal value, use each card as
the start of a new hand, and play each hand separately.
Stand
The player’s decision in blackjack to not take another card, signified to the
dealer by passing your hand palm down over your cards.
Steal
Winning a game in poker by means of bluffing.
Stickman
The craps dealer who “calls” the game and maneuvers the dice around the table
with a long-handled stick.
Stiff Hand
A two-card total of 12 through 16 in the game of blackjack which is vulnerable
to breaking if the hand is hit.
Straight
Poker hand in which all five cards are of increasing consecutive rank
Straight Flush
Poker hand in which all five cards are of increasing consecutive rank, but all
of the same suit.
Straight Up
A bet on a single number in roulette which pays off at 35 to 1.
